Eternal Search Of Perfection
Like his namesake knight of the Round Table, Galahad Clark was also searching for his holy grail. He found it in a shoe. This was no coincidence in view of his position as scion of the Clark shoe family, manufacturing shoes since 1825. Even though his studies took him in a different direction he followed the family tradition. Under his management for the last five years, United Nude and Terra Plana have made a hugely successful mark on fashion. United Nude has a very clear identity – ‘the shapes are distinctive, discernible and sexy’ says Galahad Clark who came to Ljubljana for the second time recently for the opening of Slovenia’s first Terra Plana store.
The Shoe industry renews technology every six months in accordance with fashion guidelines. This is totally inconsistent with sustainable development. We should be aware of the entire life circle of a certain product – from breeding cattle, leather workings and by-products to considerate environmental distribution and a final product. G. Clark says: “I alone strive to create products that have an extremely long lifespan and produce as little waste as possible. I also contribute a small share to the conservation of the environment. Sustainable fashion is a good fashion. That’s why we develop footwear from furniture – from carboniferous fibers and a principle of artificial intelligence similar to Toyota, who also give priority to technology and environmentally friendly innovations.”
